The Project

In the COREtool project, a scientifically based, German-language self-assessment scale for nurses is being created based on the Core Competencies in Disaster Nursing framework of the International Council of Nurses (ICN) . This should help them to realistically assess their core competencies in disaster nursing. In today’s world, it is becoming increasingly important to prepare nurses for their diverse and demanding tasks in emergencies, crises and disasters. In Germany, however, it is hardly known how well they assess their skills in this area.

The COREtool project on Competencies in Disaster Nursing is Joachim Beckert’s doctoral project. It will be carried out from 2024 to 2028 at the Institute of Health and Nursing Science at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin under the supervision of Professor Michael Ewers and Professor Uta Klusmann and follows up on the CORE project at the same institute.
